Jonathan Lee Pratt, also known as JZyNO, is a Liberian Afropop singer and songwriter who was born on January 3, 1995. He started his career in 2019 and was inspired by Kendrick Lamar. His hit song 'Kpan Kpan Me' won the MTN Liberian Music Awards Afropop Song of the Year in 2020, which led to his rise to fame. In 2021, he won several awards, including the Ghana Fashion and Lifestyle Awards, African Artiste of the Year, Video of the Year (RULA), Ghana Innovative Youth Awards, and Ghana Creative Arts Awards Next Rated Artiste. Jzyno won two awards at the Ghana Emerging Stars Awards in 2022 for his hit record 'Fall Down Inside'.
JZyNO released the Brown Sugar EP in August 2021, with six singles, including 'All You Want.' He also released 'RULA,' teaming up with Tanzania's Nedy and Ghana's Epixode. In 2022, JZyNO received the Liberia's Most Admirable entertainer award.
In 2023, JZyNO released his hit single 'Butta My Bread', featuring Lasmid, which sparked the "Butta My Bread challenge" on TikTok, inspiring over 3 million global 'creates' on social media with more than 500 million views and counting. The song garnered over 250 million streams, breaking into the top 50 of the Billboard Hot 50, peaking at #2 on the Billboard U.S Afrobeats Songs Chart, and #16 on the UK Top 100 Afrobeats Songs Chart. He subsequently released another single, 'Eyes on You', featuring Ghanaian artist Camidoh, further captivating listeners' interest in his craft. Two months later, he surprised fans with an amapiano record, achieving moderate success.
By May 2024, the Butta My Bread Remix, featuring Nasty C of South Africa and Sid Sriram from India, had accumulated 1.8 million streams within six days. By July 2024, Jzyno unveiled the Liberian Boy EP, featuring collaborations with two Nigerian artists, JayWills and Khaid, as well as a Liberian artist. He has also been featured on notable tracks by Kenyan artist Willy Paul. The songs "Kuu-Kuu" and "Sir Jah" garnered significant attention from both East African audiences and Afrobeats enthusiasts. Jzyno's influence has been instrumental in the Afrobeats genre, establishing him as one of the most exciting talents to watch.
To start off 2025, JZyNO released his highly anticipated single "Go down" featuring "The Game", the renowned US rapper. The song became a viral sensation on TikTok among creatives and continues to make waves as we progress into 2025.
Besides singing and songwriting, JZyNO has other hobbies and talents, such as playing football and volunteering as a community barber. Growing up, JZyNo enjoyed listening to Brandy, Lil Wayne, T.I, 2Face and the likes. Due to his passion for music, he explored different genres and therefore became an afro-afrobeats/fusion artist.
